A musical gardening project
Saturday 10 March 2018 | 12pm-12.20pm
Meeting point | Friarstown Allotments car park at 11.45am
Bring gardening gloves and wellies

Visual artist Fiona Dowling and composer George Higgs invite you to the first in the series of performances as part of their public art project Work Songs. Directly inspired by observations, sound experiments and conversations with plot-owner Catherine Cunningham at Friarstown Allotments, the work song will be performed and sung in Catherine’s own plot: Allotment 86.

Friarstown Allotments' gardening work song is participatory and we need you, our audience, to join in and add your voice.

In the spirit of meitheal*, everybody is welcome to lend a hand to make sure Catherine has her potatoes in the ground by St Patrick’s Day.

*The word meitheal describes the old Irish tradition where people in rural communities gathered together to help each other with farming work and heavy seasonal tasks.

Work Songs is commissioned under IN CONTEXT 4 - IN OUR TIME, South Dublin County Council’s Public Art Programme for 2016-2019 under the Per Cent for Art Scheme.
