Rock to the Top is inspired by the story of Oisín i dTír na n-Óg, who single-handedly threw a boulder up the valley at Glenasmole. You are invited to join the challenge of recreating this mythic feat by working together to carry a granite boulder (in pieces) from Tallaght, to make a cairn at the foot of Kippure. The last third of the boulder has been broken up. Join in now to help get the boulder to the top by mid-summer!

Connecting city with mountains, and people with each other, the project is about walking and talking. Two-thirds of the rock is on the mountain, and the walks will continue until all of the boulder has been brought to the top.

Check www.incontext4.ie for details of walks as they are announced, or email rocktothetopdublinmountains@gmail.com to register your interest and receive updates.

Rock to the Top is commissioned under IN CONTEXT 4 - IN OUR TIME, South Dublin County Council’s Public Art Programme for 2016-2019 under the Per Cent for Art Scheme.

With thanks to Rua Red, Dublin Mountain Partnership Rangers, Wicklow Mountains National Park and Glenasmole Community for their support.
